Lure of the Past

I have a deep fascination with the past and love visiting antique shops in Istanbul that transport me back in time. Being in these shops gives me a chance to imagine distant places, homes, people, and eras. Escaping the ‘here and now,’ I find myself drawn to fabrics, objects, and paintings; dreaming of the Istanbul bourgeoisie and old Ottoman families; creating fictional stories of love and loss; feeling excitement, awe, sadness, and a profound nostalgia for a past whose delicate details are no longer present in modern Istanbul.

Artrium is one of those antique shops where I feel overwhelmed by the beauty of furniture, fabrics, paintings, engravings, tiles, and so much more.

If you ever wish to experience the elegance, sophistication, and refined details of bygone Istanbul, make sure to visit Artrium—where the past feels alive and the modern world lingers only as a shadow.

Note that the store also offers a rich collection of art and artistic objects created by local artists and artisans who have drawn their inspiration from traditional Turkish art.
