Avedis Kendir is a legendary jewellery designer who drives his inspiration from art nouveau, art deco and Ottoman art. He is -to me- a master who turned jewellery into an art form. Mr. Kendir is a designer that works with special orders and has designed jewellery for prominent figures such as Queen Elizabeth and Elizabeth Taylor.

The bejewelled model of the ‘Santa Maria’ made by the jeweller Avedis Kendir is on display in Madrid, Spain till October 19, 2015. Santa Maria was the largest of the three ships used by Christopher Columbus in his first voyage. Mr. Kendir’s website says that ‘The importance of Santa Maria for Avedis Kendir is that it is a vessel that unified civilizations and built new bridges between people like spaceships of today .’
