There is a very exciting project titled Byzantium 1200 which is a non-funded project aimed at creating computer reconstructions of the Byzantine Monuments of Constantinople as of year 1200 AD. This project has taken its inspiration by the model of the old city in Rome as well as the famous painting of Istanbul by Allan Sorell.
The project has a fascinating website in which it shares the reconstructions of the ancient city of Constantinople with its hippodrome, palaces, temples and monasteries.

Here is the Hippodrome with all its details. Today, one can only sense the elliptic shape of the hippodrome and see few of the last standing columns.
You can look at the Constantine Column in 1200 AD. What remains today is only the column itself without the sculpture on top and the square itself with its majestic buildings.
Here, you can see Haghia Sophia in 1200 AD. It is still standing against the test of time!
