Istanbulites have been struggling with soaring inflation and skyrocketing cost of living within the last years. Looking at the faces of people on the streets or simply having a small chat with anyone living in Istanbul could give you the sense that most people are unsatisfied and simply unhappy with the course of things. But this is only one side of the coin. On the other side is an Istanbul where music dominates the streets, ferries and metros, putting a smile on people’s faces and uplifting their moods.

Istanbul Municipality has been encouraging street musicians and giving them a chance to perfom in metro stations and ferries simply to put a beautiful smile on Istanbulites’ faces. As someone who love to take the ferry, I am thrilled to listen to musicians from a wide range of genres that make my day!
