Istanbul Modern is definitely something new under the sun for Turkey as it is the first Modern Art Museum established in the country 20 years ago. When one thinks of the history of art in Turkey, it is a very progressive attempt by the patrons of this museum to have imagined such a project.

Oya Eczacıbaşı and her husband are the founders of İstanbul Modern
The Museum has moved to its new location only a year ago after this unique building was built by the workshop of the leading architect of our time: Renzo Piano.

So if you are in Istanbul, I would definitely recommend you to see the first Modern Art Museum in the country overlooking one of the most majestic views in the world.

Definitely go up to the observation deck on the upper chamber to have a glance of the amazing view.

The Museum hosts a wide collection of contemporary artists you will be delighted to see! You can see some of my most favourite artists here:

Selma Gürbüz who has recently passed away during Covid.

Bedri Rahmi Eyüpoğlu

Burhan Uygur

Kuzgun Acar
But, of course there are many more amazing Turkish artists to see in Istanbul Modern!
