A Talented Young Artist’s Journey

“I believe that, when listening to a song, we travel from space to space, and from time to time. When a melody touches you deeply, you can experience a place with your mind and your soul. So it is not only architects or engineers who can make a construction. Composers design an atmosphere with their musical instruments, transporting the listener to cities, gardens and landscapes.”  Büşra Kayıkçı

Here is the story of an exceptionally gifted female artist. Born and raised in İstanbul, she became interested in ballet and classical music from an early age. She studied interior architecture and environmental design and started incorporating musical elements in her concept of design through the insprations she drew from artists such as John Cage and Nils Frahm.

Büşra Kayıkçı has started releasing her single following 2019. Her singles Doğum (Birth), Eskizler (Sketches), Tuna followed one another.

Her fame spread from İstanbul to the rest of the world and she now gives concerts in London and Central Europe and holds interdisciplinary projects. ‘One of Kayıkçı’s most significant interdisciplinary projects to date was a collaboration with the New York Theatre Ballet in 2020. Choreographer Melissa Toogood used her music for a piece of contemporary dance, performed by Monica Lima, which was praised by the New York Times.’(https://www.busrakayikci.com/)

Let’s lend an ear to this exceptionally gifted female artist at her concert at the İstanbul Jazz Festival and allow her to transport us to another realm!

Büşra Kayıkçı’ first single Doğum (Birth) is mesmerising!

Doğum/birth was played in NY Theatre Ballet’s online show in 2020.

Büşra Kayıkçı’s journey is a reminder that art is a transcendental experience that unites us regardless of all that divides us.
