I feel devastated by the increasing sameness in fashion, life style and aesthetics in the modern world and Istanbul is no exception. It has become a city where every woman looks the same due to plastic surgeries that turn every one of them into the replica of ‘ideal beauty’. Every woman carries the same models of the same luxurious brands; wears the same luxurious watch brands and drives the same luxurious car brands. It feels like being in a dystopic movie.

Mlouye feels like a breath of fresh air in this dystopic atmosphere. I discovered the brand by mere coincidence in a shopping mall on the Anatolian side and I was struck by its rich and diverse colours, eccentric and unique designs. I loved the brand even more when I discovered that the brand is Turkish and the designs were made by a Turkish female designer.

The store itself was very futuristic that fit the spirit of the brand perfectly.

I have recently read an interview with the designer of the brand. Her name is simply Meb and she calls her creations ‘functional art’. A perfect union of functionality with creativity!

The brand has been targeting Europe, Asia and US and is available in department stores such as Harvey Nichols, Samaritaine, Galeries Lafayette but we are lucky that the brand is also available in the local market.
When you are in İstanbul, do yourself a favour and discover the unique collection of Mlouye in a world that is expecting you to march to the same tune with the same exact steps!
