İstanbul-based trio Şenkop, formed in 2024, brings a fresh perspective to traditional Anatolian folk music, blending age-old melodies and the melodies of neighboring geographies with contemporary arrangements, modern harmonies, and inventive instrumentation to create a unique and vibrant sound.

The group, Cem Mazlum on percussion, Rûbar Dindar on keyboard and vocals, and Ruşen Can Acet on kabak kemane and vocals blends jazz harmonies with folk melodies, preserving the microtonal nuances of the region’s music.
Their name combines the Turkish word for joy, “şen,” with “syncopation,” reflecting their playful, rhythm-driven style. Şenkop started with intimate live recordings and soon performed at major Istanbul venues.

Their debut album, Evde, captures their warm, improvisational sound, offering listeners a contemporary yet rooted experience of Anatolian music.
In these challenging times, befriending and listening to Şenkop might be exactly the uplifting, human touch we need!
