I had seen Bulgur Palas located in Aksaray years ago as an abandoned ghost house. It had an uncanny feel to it as it has been fully deserted and the story told by our guide was pretty grim. The Mansion’s construction was started in 1908 by a gentleman named Habib Bey who had gotten extremely wealthy through his rather dubious commercial activities with the government at the time but the building could not be finished up until 1926 due to the economic challenges Habib Bey faced and he has had to leave the building to the government.
The building changed hands over the decades and was completely abandoned till 2021 when İstanbul decided to restore it to its ancient glory.

I have visited the Mansion after its construction and was happy to see how it was recreated from its ashes. ıt now serves İstanbulites as a coworking space as well as a venue for concerts, events and exhibitions with a book store and a cosy cafe.
So if you need a coworking space or a place to read or simply contemplate, Bulgur Palas is the right destination for you!
