According to legend, these mosques were designed with celestial poetry: as the sun sank behind the Edirnekapı mosque in the evening, the moon rose over the Üsküdar mosque, creating a symbolic dialogue of light and shadow, day and night, between the two monuments. This interplay of sun and moon mirrored Mihrimah’s own name and essence, becoming Sinan’s silent, eternal homage to her presence in the city and in his heart.
